Henry, a black lab, retires after distinguished 13-year career

Fort Worth, TX -The City of Fort Worth recently lost its most popular employee to retirement. He served as a lead marketing officer for the city and also was the city’s top fundraiser.

His name is Henry. He’s a 14-year-old black lab who represented the city at official functions and was partly responsible for raising almost $5 million to expand the city’s animal shelter and build a second shelter. 

When Henry, the official dog of Fort Worth, was hours away from euthanasia, he was chosen to be the city watchdog to promote the health and happiness of animals at the city shelter. By all measurements he succeeded. His handler says, “Henry became the face of all that is possible.”
