Wright City, MO – The Wright City Police Department introduced its new K9 police dog, Lupo, during a ceremony at the Dec. 28 board of aldermen meeting.
They also thanked the organization Justin Delivers Hope, both for paying for Lupo and the training required for the dog and the department’s K9 officer, Jose Malta.
“Officer Malta has a proven track record of proactively removing drugs from the streets of Wright City,” Police Chief Tom Canavan said during the meeting. “I am confident K9 Officer Malta and his partner, K9 Lupo, will continue to have many success stories during their time. As partners, the officers of the Wright City Police Department will continue to be vigilant in our effort to keep drugs out of our community in order to prevent further overdoses, and also to continue to educate our youth regarding the nature of opioid abuse.”
